Miscellaneous

Last night, Allison Durham Speer sang at church. She didn't sing a whole lot, in fact Pastor Johnny had plans on preaching after she was done. That never happened. What a great way to start off our Thanksgiving week. She was beautiful...both in song and in spirit. She led the church into a worshipfull state. It was amazing.

She talked about some people wanting to take out the hymns of the church. She said the hymn to us today is like the memorial stones were to the Israelites when they crossed Jordan.
It's all here:
1 When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the LORD said to Joshua, 2 "Choose twelve men from among the people, one from each tribe, 3 and tell them to take up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan from right where the priests stood and to carry them over with you and put them down at the place where you stay tonight." Joshua 4:1-3

19 On the tenth day of the first month the people went up from the Jordan and camped at Gilgal on the eastern border of Jericho. 20 And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan. 21 He said to the Israelites, "In the future when your descendants ask their fathers, 'What do these stones mean?' 22 tell them, 'Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.' 23 For the LORD your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over. The LORD your God did to the Jordan just what he had done to the Red Sea when he dried it up before us until we had crossed over. 24 He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the LORD is powerful and so that you might always fear the LORD your God." Joshua 4:19-24

She said there was nothing wrong with the new praise and worship songs, they are wonderful songs. But it's the hymns that brought a lot of us to the Lord. Think back to what song was playing when you walked down the aisle and gave your heart to the Lord. For some it was "Amazing Grace". For others it was something else. They are songs that brought us through trials and sorrows. Songs that we have laid up to be a memorial, so that in the future hwne our descendants ask us what they are, and we might tell them, and they will know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and they may always fear the Lord.

What an awesome concept...I had never heard it explained that way. I've heard all kinds of arguments as to why we need to keep the hymnals, or take away the wall songs. Some people feel the samea bout the "wall songs" as we do about the hymns. Someday they will put all the "wall songs" in a book and call them hymns, and they will be as a memorial. It's a cycle...everything in life is a cycle. Each cycle moves to prove that GOD is GOD. Regardless of the tune or the look.

I love it when God shows us how big He is...how unlimited He is!

Thanksgiving is in a few days. I keep seeing the commercial for KMart, where the lady comes out with a burnt turkey and the little kids and dad are staring at her. She's all smiling and the dad looks at the table and says "honey, this table looks great!". LOL The little kid they zoom in on is adorable...the look on his face is priceless.

I'm so thankful for many things. I'll have to write again and list them all, or as many as I can. It's good for the soul.

I got one of those spam emails today. The person signed it with "yours," Seriously, why would you use that line if you didn't know the person you were sending it to. This person is not MINE. That's like someone signing their emails with "Your's Truly". What? The only person who should sign their letters or emails to me that way would be the one who is TRULY MINE! duh!

I've got loads of work yet to finish up. I've got a few sites I'm working on getting up before I leave. I'll let you see them when I know they're done.

I gotta get, gotta go run and pick up the Beauvias kiddos from school.

AM OUT!!

I believe in singing what is annointed. Some of today's songs aren't annointed just because their new and on the wall, and some of the hymns aren't annointed just because their old and in a book. I want to do songs that move people period. I love them both!
